Don't Scrub Your Acne Prone Skin - Cleanse It Instead

Do you sometimes find yourself suffering from acne so bad you wished you could wear a bucket over your head? When your acne breaks out, does it come along with a vengeance leaving you with the urge to scrub your face and hourly just to see if it would make a difference? Well if this is the case then don't feel lonely, for there are many others who share your frustration with their acne breakouts.

Most people believe the acne is caused by bacteria alone. This simply is not true. Acne is the result of several factors working together which include dead skin cells, excess oil and bacteria. And he begins when dead skin cells get stuck together by the excess oil and form a clog within the hair follicle. This is one in the opportunistic bacteria coming in to play, resulting in acne.

If you wish to avoid and possibly eliminate your acne woes, then you should try to maintain your skin and keep it as clean as possible. This does not mean that you have to wash your face every hour on the hour to keep it clean. You should however wash your face twice daily with a gentle cleanser. The best times to cleanse your face would be in the morning and at night before you go to bed. Be sure not to use a cleanser which may contain ingredients which could be abrasive to an already irritated skin.

When using a skin cleanser be certain that you clean the pores of your skin very well. Make sure that a cleanser penetrates into the pores so that the cleanser can do its job properly and remove the dead skin cells in the excess oil which houses the bacteria. It is a good idea not to use bar soap to clean your face as they have been proven by dermatologists to be too harsh on the skin. Bars soaps tend to be very drying to the skin and also strip away lipids which are important to healthy skin.

There are a couple of things that you should absolutely avoid if possible. One is continually touching the pimples with your hands and fingers. If you need to know if the acne is still there, use a mirror instead. Constantly touching your acne will only add more bacteria and increase the infection that is already there.

Secondly you should never squeeze, pick at or try to pop the pimples. Contrary to popular belief, this practice does not make the acne heal faster. Instead you can actually calls skin lesions and leave scars where you mess with the acne with your hands. You should also try to stay out of the sun during an acne breakout. Ultraviolet rays are not only damaging to healthy skin, it also causes a heavy production of sebum which will worsen the acne breakout.

Finally, you should moisturize your skin. However, you should select those products which do not contain oil and are water based
